This is important. Pepper spray should only ever be used to pacify a dangerous suspect. In this case it is being administered as a punishment, in clear violation of the 8th amendment and Article Five of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Activist were peacefully protesting on their campus at University of California, Davis Quad.
Friday afternoon police showed up in riot gear to disperse the protesters by using pepper spray at point-blank range.
The officer who pepper-sprayed UC Davis students is Lt. John Pike. Give his PD a call. 530-752-1727
How can the public trust and respect the police when shit like this happens? And I have family and friends who I love dearly and respect immensely who are police officers, and I fear for their lives because people hate the cops, and THIS shit is why. So fuck you, Lt. John Pike. Fuck you for making my loved ones’ jobs, which are already dangerous, even more so by engendering resentment and loathing between the police and the public. Fuck you, sir.
An additional fuck you to Lt. John Pike, the UC Davis police department, and the UC Davis Chancellor, Linda Katehi. Fuck you for allowing armed and armored police to attack a group of unarmed non violent protestors with chemical weapons instead of using traditional arrest or detainment methods. Fuck you Chancellor Katehi for allowing and condoning the police’s actions towards citizens and students that you were appointed to care for.
Fuck you all for bringing this violence to suppress dissent and peaceable assembly to my hometown.
